Denmark 1903 – 1991
In 1922 Johannes Andersen finished his apprenticeship and got his certificate as a skilled cabinet maker. He worked for several years in various workshops. Over the years Johannes designed numerous pieces of furniture, and in the middle of the 1930’s he started his own architectural workshop.
As Danish furniture gained fame internationally, Johannes received appointments from Swedish and Norwegian furniture factories. He designed several pieces for the Swedish furniture manufacturer Trensum. Johannes Andersen’s best known designs are coffee tables in almost innumerable variations. He worked into his eighties, and by the time he closed his workshop, Johannes had gained much deserved international acclaim as a master furniture designer.
